Where Light & Shadows Play
Joyce Enzor Maust
Joyce Enzor Maust is Poet Laureate of the Delaware House of Representatives and a recipient of the 2024 Delaware Individual Artist Fellowship for Emerging Poets. Raised on a dairy farm in southwest Pennsylvania as the daughter of a Conservative Mennonite pastor, her work is rooted in land, lineage, faith, and survival. With degrees in English and physics, she brings both lyric intuition and structural clarity to her poetry.
Drawing on experiences of chronic illness, neurodiversity, caregiving, and advocacy, her work explores resilience, belonging, memory, disability, and the many ways people make meaning of the world around them. Published in Broadkill Review, Dreamstreets, and Gargoyle, she explores beauty alongside fracture and gives voice to stories often left unspoken. She is currently at work on a book pairing her photography with short poems and a collection reflecting on her childhood within the Plain-dressing community.
